Pressalit was born 1954. But the story of Pressalit takes its beginning two years earlier…. In a carpenters’ workshop in Esbjerg. Two carpenters, Christian P. Larsen and Holger Christensen, share the workshop and their business.
One night, a cat in the workshop accidentally overturns a pot of glue. The glue spills over a hot radiator and forms a puddle in the sawdust on the floor. The result is a material with great possibilities.
Pressalit was created. From these early beginnings, production on a huge scale now operates supplying these contemporary designs worldwide. The seats are made from the urea granulate, pressed in heated forms under tremendous pressure at high temperature. The pressed objects, seats and covers, are ground and polished, fitted with hinges and buffers and finally packed ready for dispatch around the world.
